Rothwell and Grogan take the J Greatbanks Trophy on countback in a close encounter where 3 pairs finished on +5 !

Fast finishing Mr.Captain ( R.W.Kay ) takes the spoils in tough conditions to prevail on countback to foil fellow silver surfer James Walker Kelly with Alty stalwarts Caffrey and Boardman in the minor places .

Improving David Christian wins his first board competition beating 41 rivals to take the F Cox Memorial Cup thwarting long-time clubhouse leader Glen Rothwell whilst third-placed John Hogan lamented a poor finish and defending champion Stewart Royles’ slow start restricts him to a still-robust campaign in fourth .

Ex captain Steve Wilkinson returns to form to take the prestigious bogey board competition on a attritional day of golf where he was the only golfer with a positive score as fast finishing Shaughnessy and Window fall just short with another ex Captain Crowther maintaining his form but only finishing fourth on countback on a day where our beloved course came out on top .and saw defending champion Walton Sr close up in fifth place of the 23 starters .

Andy Slater returns to form beating 43 competitors to win the Remembrance Trophy ! He just prevailed from closest pursuers Mark Snape and Ken Dixon ... and all of them came from behind to be the main challengers for the trophy as front 9 leader Ian Cheetham and early challengers Wilkinson ,Gayle , Stopford and Ashcroft all succumb to average back 9 finishes . .

Reigning Club champion Stewart Royle produces his best round of the season to deny Alty newcomer Lee Lomas and Nick Alderson beating 46 competitors to take the Shield whilst newcomer Bange took the minor place with early leader Mark Caffrey not able to build on his sensational -6 position after 8 start suffersa a poor back 9 including a quint-bogey 10 to derail his challenge .

A phenomenal front 9 sets Tim Dibble up for an easy win to take his first significant comp since his Monthly Medal victory in August 2015 with Bernie Wood overcoming a dreadful start to finish second and Captain Kay playing solidly but unspectacularly to take third place . Royle brothers Stewart and Neil take the trophies as fellow pairs specialists Miller and MacDonald are thwarted late on and finish one shot behind . Brian Southworth and Captain Kay , the scratch pairing of Andy Miehe and Howard Johnson and similarly new allegiance of John Rossiter and Tim Roberts complete the top 5 all within just 3 strokes of the winner with the windy rainy conditions ensuring no pairing together beat the course par .

Gordon Boardman narrowly wins the Geoff Gibson Trophy from fellow senior John Rossiter with a devastating net birdie blast in the closing holes to prevail as Gayle blows cold when in pole position!

Affable Alty treasure Brian Cawley produces a phenomenal net 64 in the sunny conditions to beat 43 competitors to win the Watson Trophy by 2 shots from Mr. Captain with Howard ‘Bird’ Johnson in third .

Alty GC scribe Paul Hackett edges maverick Andrew Window on countback in the hot and windy conditions to take the Diggle Trophy with Remembrance winner Andy Slater in third .

George Sainthouse snatches the biggest trophy in Altys’ cabinet on countback to magnificently defend his title from early front runners Dibble , Walton Snr. and Shaughnessy in a topsy turvy battle in the searing Cheshire heat and rock hard greens and fairways that saw 9 golfers lessen their handicaps with hard luck stories galore !

Away player glory as Sale GCs Adrian Sigsworth takes the Captains Bowl from perennial silver surfer contenders Keith Walton Sr. and Danny Miller in the hot and windy conditions !

Mark Snape (18/21/39) defies high handicappers Christian,Jackson and Walker-Kelly to snatch the Golden Jubilee Cup on countback after a superb 21 point back 9 haul as no less than 3 players blob their final hole to lose their chance of glory on an day of drama on the undulating overbaked greens and fairways !

Board Competition specialist Danny Miller dominated the quality 46 strong field to take the inaugural Bernie Wood Trophy from in-form Jim Fallon with Arthur Cooper hero Steve Wilkinson in third whilst Glen Rothwell equalled his and Altys’’best in season’ gross 71 in sixth place !

David Roy Terris outlasts early front runner Keith Walton Jnr for an ultimately dominant 4 shot win with a stunning net 64 to take the Tommy Barlow Trophy with Messrs Wilkinson , Mason , Hogan and Butterworth a further shot behind as our beloved well-baked course continued to offer a stiff test in the sunshine !

Howard 'Big Bird' Johnson swoops to beat 47 rivals to take the July Monthly Medal with an awesome net 64 with Club Champion Stewart Royle second and Messrs Young and Walker-Kelly filling the minor places on another dramatic day at our beloved Alty GC in the continuing tricky conditions !

Miehe and Rossiter (25/23/48) take the JS Chorlton trophies in spectacular style after posting 48 huge points to deny serial major pairs winners McDonald and Miller with maverick duo Cheetham and Window third of the 26 teams on show.

Evergreen Alty treasure Ken Dixon (82/19/63) produced a phenomenal performance by dominating a 45 strong field to win the Holiday Cup with a four shot victory over fellow silver surfer major hunter Danny Miller with wily veteran John Rossiter in third ... and Des Royle scored an extremely rare net Condor 2 !

Multi-Board Competition winning machine Danny Miller (74/7/67) takes the Trafford Leisure Trophy by 3 strokes from Nathan Butterworth and Mark Terris , the only three members to beat their par score in the unpredictable wetter and windier conditions

Andy Slater & Steve Foley (37/38/75) beat 23 pairs to win the Royles Challenge Trophies by 3 points from Alderson/Harding and Butterworth/Grinnell as front 9 leading pairs Crowther/Goodall and Walton/Cawley fell back after good starts .

Nick Lewis profits from a last hole bogey from serial winner Danny Miller to superbly win the Old Hall Trophy with fast finishing AGC Memorial Trophy leader Brian Southworth in third place with best gross of the day Glen Rothwell and front 9 leader Owen Fallon completing the top five !

Mark Royle reigned supreme , mastered the course conditions better than anyone and outlasted a quality field to majestically win the Senior Trophy on countback from early leader John Hogan with Danny Miller taking third place !

Classy Andy Miehe rediscovers his form and wins the Autumn Cup on countback from an excellent Stephen Whyte whilst front 9 leaders Radion and the debuting Ewing inexplicably falter from strong positions in the final third .

Noted ball-strikers Ralston and Snape ultimately cruise to victory with a stunning gross 72 to take the Gyves/Gardener trophies by 3.6 strokes from the Holloway/Owen duo with front 9 leaders JBoardman and JDixon in third place in the challenging conditions !

Paul MacDonald spreadeagled an exclusive 10 man field to win the coveted DPT in fine style with defending champion Daniel Miller second and 2013 champion Matthew Goodall in third .

Glen Rothwell is in pole position to win his 3rd J Ford in 4 years after a superb 73 which gives him a 4 shot lead over surprise second Norman Crowther . Defending Champion Alty GC golfer Stewart Royle and Mark Snape lie 6 shots back with pre-tournament favourite Mark Marshall 8 shots behind .

Norman Crowther shoots a superb net 69 to lead by a stroke from Mr. Captain ( Robert W. Kay) and Gross leader Rothwell with the tightly packed top 10 players separated by 3 shots including Roy Dickens , whose extraordinary round included a net albatross on 5 ! It’s all up for grabs as we go into tomorrow’s final round .

Sunday 16th September 2018 Mark Marshall scores a magnificent 73 in the tough conditions to take Round 2 honours by 5 shots from Glen Rothwell with Mark Snape and Gordon Boardman taking the minor places .

Brian Southworth snatched the Round 2 net honours on countback with a superb back 9 from Gordon Boardman with Howard Johnson and Paul MacDonald taking the minor places on a day that had a trio of high-handicap golfers heartbreakingly falter from challenging positions on the final third with glory beckoning .

Glen Rothwell keeps his nerve to shoot a gross 78 to regain the J Ford Trophy and become Altrincham GC Champion Golfer of the Year for the third time in 4 years as pre-tournament favourite Mark Marshall produces a magnificent gross 73 but falls 3 strokes short . Mark Snape finishes a creditable third after a second consecutive sub-80 round in the more challenging conditions with defending champion Stewart Royle in fourth on countback from fifth-placed Norman Crowther .

Brian Southworth takes the prestigious but as yet unheralded net J Ford Championship by an impressive 4 strokes from Gordon Boardman with Mark Snape and Glen Rothwell taking the minor places in a tight leaderboard with only 6 shots separating the top 8 .

Multi-Board Competition winners Brian Southworth and Gary Shaughnessy have won their 6th pairs Board Competition together after outlasting Paul Hackett and David Christian in the Summer KO finals today . Gary was winning his 7th pairs and 8th Board Comp in all whilst it was the 6th pairs and 12th Board Comp in all for Brian ! Congratulations to both gentlemen !
